What's the 'G' thing?

Oh hey, a cartoon about me!
And it obviously stands for "gangster". Or something.

The past

I spent most of the last 13 months (9 regular months with a 4 month break in between) as a slave of the state.

As I sit here and wait for the final three hours to pass, let me take this opportunity to take a quick look back, draw some conclusions and reminisce on the great benefit to society that was accrued in these months, as well as the valuable personal growth and experience gained. How to sum up all that time in one sentence? Oh, I know:

What a colossal fucking waste of time for everyone involved!

UI design fail: If your product is online video commenting and thus your target audience are people who feel an urgent need to share their mug and umms and ahhs with the world, you might want to find a way of indicating that something is a video that's not guaranteed to comically obscure the commenter's face.

That is exactly what you think it is: Phoenix descending to the Martian surface underneath its parachute. This incredible shot was taken by the HiRISE camera on board the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. You can easily see the ‘chute, the lander (still in its shell) and even the tether lines!

Think on this, and think on it carefully: you are seeing a manmade object falling gracefully and with intent to the surface of an alien world, as seen by another manmade object already circling tht world, both of them acting robotically, and both of them hundreds of million of kilometers away.

Never, ever forget: we did this. This is what we can do.

(quoted entirely from Bad Astronomy Blog » Best. Image. Ever.)

kyrah: This is simply amazing. I am in awe of the engineers and scientists who made this possible. Thank you for reminding me that even in these dark times, not all is lost for humankind. We may yet prevail.

I feel like a McCain/Obama presidential election would be such a tonic for this country. ... Both are figures that seem not products of a pure political system. And to have those two choices could change the tone quite drastically.

Practically every person who is branded a terrorist by our data-mining efforts is innocent.
In the effort to find the terrorist needles in our haystacks, we're just making much bigger haystacks.

Little Big Planet

Ah, this just keeps looking like even more fun with every new trailer. I'm reminded of the Blue Sky in Games campaign:
Games need BLUE SKIES! Games need BRIGHT YELLOW SUNS! Games need RED AND BLUE THINGS in them! We want to play in a HAPPY PRETEND LAND, not a shit version of an American slum full of gangsters wearing licensed sportswear!

[In the US,] 18 to 24-year-olds are starting companies at a faster rate than 35 to 44-year-olds. And 70% of today's high schoolers intend to start their own companies ...

An upcoming wave of new workers in our society will never work for an established company if they can help it. To them, having a traditional job is one of the biggest career failures they can imagine.
